Artist Statement
Inspired by the Color Field & Abstract artists of the late 1940’s & 50’s, Ms. Hoersting seeks simplicity, elegance and color in her work. Her continued questioning of marks, color & esthetics is a studio must. Often exhaustion precedes the final outcome of CALM & DELIGHT from her exploration of repeated markings.
Judith Hoersting gleaned the USA from New Haven to Alaska to secure her credentialed MFA in Studio Art in 2005. In the 1990’s she studied & expanded her artistic vocabulary in color, drawing & painting at Yale. Summers were spent rapidly scrapping her pallet & finding endless color relationships at the Cape Cod School of Art. Ms. Hoersting exhibits in Alaska, the US Northwest & Internationally. You will find her busy creating new works in her Alaska & Oregon studios.
