Orange Kissed

Matty Reddan

Bio
An artist since he was a child, Matt made holiday decorations and learned craft techniques as a Cub Scout. In his teens he made collages that he applied to the ceiling in his bedroom and he took an art class every year in High School. Matt earned a BFA degree from the School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C. in 1980. He attended workshops : furniture building, Japanese paper lantern construction, and faux finishes. Mr. Reddan designed functional objects, such as lampshades, using beads, buttons, silk flowers and rice papers. He currently studies Contemporary Abstraction at the Woodstock School of Art and exhibits his work.

Artist Statement
My art comes from a place that words can't always describe. Marks are made, color becomes a part of the play, and gesture is utilized as a force of energy. I reach a point at which the piece needs to tell me where to go next. Rubbing, erasing, wiping out, adding water, scratching ensue until another state is reached. My process of change continues and the work made is the outcome of this adventurous pursuit.
