After years in the fashion industry as designer and product technology consultant, my happy place is now a painting studio in the Catskills. Splitting time between New York City and the mountains, I rediscovered nature’s influence and color on my work while continuing to marinate in the vigor of the city. Current study involves monumentalism of shape, interaction of forms and color, as well as the trickery of technique for which I owe a debt to the masters of abstract expressionism. These vague and imperfect terms attempt to describe what is the physical, intellectual and emotional practice of creating art.
Anne is a fashion illustrator (Studio Parapluie) and abstract painter working in diverse media. She enjoys sketching the ‘old fashioned’ way, and also explores digital illustration. Most recently, Anne has resumed painting, focusing on abstraction devoted to color and inspired by movement. She found her way to abstract drawing and painting thanks to Meredith Rosier and Jenny Nelson of the Woodstock School of Art. Anne's paintings have been featured in several group shows in New York City and Saugerties, NY. More examples of Anne’s work can be found at www.annesanger.com (where she also blogs under the name The Fashion Fiend).
